Why Intel is frustrated with Apple's new M1 chips!

The tension between Apple and Intel

The Apple Silicon Announcement

Back In November, Apple introduced its own first ARM based Apple silicon chip, the M1.  Since then, there have been many videos and reviews about M1 chip on the internet. However, some had issues with bluetooth connection, and third-party docks.Apple announced that the Apple silicon transition would take 2 years and rumors said there would be new iMacs with M1 or more powerful M2,M1X chips.

Rosetta 2

Rosetta is a translation process that allows users to run apps that contain x86_64 instructions on Apple silicon. So far, so good. This translation works so well that even some Youtubers claim some Intel apps run faster , smoother than Native apps. This Rosetta 2 translation may be a problem for some users like Adobe Suite. It hasn't supported Apple silicon chips! Sp, before you buy one , consider doing research whether or not your app is supported in M1.

The Performance

Even the cheapest MacBook Air can deliver a huge performance. The 999$ base model can outperform some of the Intel's so-called beast machines. ARM based architecture has been tested on Windows laptops for over 3/4 years but none of them were as fast as M1. The M1 chips are energy-efficient compared to Intel's chips which consume so much power even when running lightweight tasks.

Intel's ad campaigns

Recently on Intel's Youtube channel, there have been videos with a so-called "Mac guy" deciding between MacBook and Intel laptops. WELL, things start to fall apart here. Their comparisons are mostly dependent on user's preferences. They don't speak well about how Intel powered laptops can perform well, how much power they consume, etc. And guess what that is? They're frustrated. Come on! This is just the start of M1 chips. There will be M1X or M2 which are gonna be more powerful. If only Intel invested money in their chips rather than making these ads.

2021:A year for Mac

The Mac marketshare could increase from 0.8% to 7% by summer. This is a huge leap. NO matter how Intel tries so hard, they are falling behind. AMD and Apple chips are outperforming their chips. I mean, if you are a gamer, I can agree that Windows laptops are a choice for you but if you are just a casual user, MacBooks should be your choice. I know that Macs have been overpriced over the past years but right now, Base model MacBook Air 999$ can outperform 2019 Intel's MacBook Pro 16 inch!

Final thoughts

If Intel couldn't manufacture better chips, they are very likely to fall behind. AMD and Apple are trying so hard to get on the chip competition. Intel has been dominating chip market for years now. Maybe it's time they should notice how their technology is falling behind.
